PhotoFacialSM is a series of Intense Pulsed Light treatments that improve the appearance of rosacea, flushing, sun damaged skin, age spots, skin texture, and photo aging. The treatment also improves mild acne scars, reduces large pores, corrects dark circles around the eyes, and reduces fine lines. This exciting treatment involves little or no "down time". You can resume normal activities immediately as long as you take proper precautions against too much sun exposure right after your treatment. If you would like to find out if PhotoFacialSM can help you, please call Impressions Laser and Cosmetics Medspa at 281-497-5050 to schedule your free consultation.
How does the treatment work?
An intense light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the abnormally dilated vessels or pigmentation. The heat weakens the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process to remove the unwanted lesion. The lesion will darken before it flakes off or is absorbed by the body. Treatment can be given as frequently as every three weeks.
How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results, a series of 5 treatments are recommended. Some patients see significant improvement in 2 to 3 treatments; others require more. Follow-up treatments may be recommended to maintain results.
What are the benefits of PhotoFacialSM?
- Treatment improves sun spots, age spots, dull complexions, uneven pigmentation, large pores, sun damaged skin, and early signs of aging.
- Treatment improves red flushing skin, rosacea, and broken capillaries.
- Enjoy smoother skin with a more even tone.
- Minimal discomfort during treatment.
- Resume regular activities immediately.
What is a treatment like?
Treatment may vary from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. First, the treated area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied. When the pulse of light is delivered, the sensation is similar to a snap of a rubber band. After treatment, the gel is removed, the skin cleansed, and a sunscreen is applied. Pain is minimal; however, topical anesthesia can be used for maximum comfort. For sensitive skin, a cool compress is applied following treatment.
Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment, the skin may appear flushed, brown pigmented spots may appear darker, and capillaries may be more visible. In rare instances, temporary swelling and/or blistering can occur.
What improvement will I see?
Patients have a high degree of satisfaction with their results. Expect to see a gradual decrease in redness, broken capillaries, flushing, irregular pigmentation, pore size, and fine lines. After each treatment, the skin will feel smoother and appear to have a more even tone.
PhotoFacialSM in treating rosacea
As many as seventy-million Americans have undesirable redness and/or sun damaged skin. Sun exposure, alcohol, medications, stress, and aging are common causes of rosacea. Rosacea is a common skin condition characterized by redness and flushing skin. PhotoFacialSM treatments control flushing and, in many cases, reduces the need for topical cortisone creams and antibiotics.
Men, women, and teens all share a common desire to have healthy, youthful skin.

What results can I expect?
Poor health, diet, aging, stress, and the elements of nature can hinder the skin's cell renewal process. Microdermabrasion accelerates the cellular turnover process, bringing you closer to healthier, younger-looking skin. It allows you to gradually resurface your skin without the risks, side effects, and down time of more aggressive alternatives. In as little as 20 minutes, this gentle, technique efficiently produces satisfying results. Improvements in appearance and texture will occur with successive treatments. Microdermabrasion can be used aggressively to achieve dramatic results, but does not take the place of surgical or laser treatments.
How many treatments will I need?
To achieve maximum results, several treatments are recommended, typically scheduled 1 to 3 weeks apart. You will experience a progressive improvement throughout your treatment program. Ask to schedule a consultation to determine the approximate number of treatments recommended for optimum effects.
How does my skin look immediately after treatment?
Microdermabrasion leaves your skin feeling soft and you will notice a healthy glow to your complexion. Due to the increase of circulation, a mild temporary blush surrounding the treated area may be the only evidence of your therapy.
Men and women alike share a common desire to have healthy, youthful skin. Exposure to the sun and the elements in combination with adverse living habits contribute to the appearance of our skin. Chemical peels are increasingly popular with those who are unhappy about acne scarring, sun-damaged skin, age spots, freckles, fine lines, rough skin, and uneven pigmentation. A chemical peel is not limited to the face, and can be performed on the neck, chest, hands, arms, shoulders, and legs - just about anywhere!
Our doctor can help you determine whether or not you might benefit from a chemical peel. Call 281-497-5050 to schedule your free consultation.
What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical Peels are topically applied acids that aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of the skin's surface. They create a uniform and controlled shedding of several layers of the skin. Depending on the nature and depth of the peel, a significant number of layers can be exfoliated allowing new growth to be exposed, creating a fresh vibrant appearance.
Who are candidates?
Your skin type and the results you are aspiring to achieve will determine if you are a candidate, as well as which class of peel is most appropriate for you.
What are the benefits of a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels can enhance your appearance by reducing blotchy and uneven pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, freckling, age spots, sun-damaged skin, and acne scars in a relatively brief measure of time. Chemical peels accelerate the production of new cells. Enjoy fresh smooth skin - immediately after your first treatment!
What are the side effects?
Chemical peels have become increasingly popular because of the array of advantages and relative lack of complications. Side effects are rare and usually temporary. Some side effects include uneven pigmentation, redness, and very infrequent scarring if the skin is not cared for appropriately. Sun protection is crucial to minimize the risk of side effects. A treatment program of individually suited products and sun protection will benefit your skin's ability to maintain the results of the peel. You can decrease the likelihood of side effects by carefully following the instructions of your treatment provider.
